Hello, I’m Liz, behind ‘Morgan’s Corner’. I live in the third world of the
Big Island of Hawaii, HA! The town is called Pahoa, Hawaii. I know
some of you might have heard in your local news about Pahoa. Yes, I live near a volcano. Well, at the moment, we don’t know where the lava is flowing anymore since the last eruption in 2018. Life was challenging since moving here from Seattle in 2014 with my wonderful husband who supports me unconditionally – well, except for when I wanted to get
a goat! We weren’t blessed with children of our own, however, I have two step-daughters who are living their life back in Seattle. So, instead of children, we have three dogs, two cats and I cannot forget the 5 hens!
My hobbies are gardening, sewing/quilting, reading, and organizing.

I didn’t learn how to sew until 25 years ago – actually, I failed Home Economics in high school. I couldn’t sew or even cook – I was just not that kind of gal, outdoors was more for me. sigh

When I moved out on my own, I had to learn these things independently. I am a self-taught quilter. What inspired me to sew was the colors, the prints in the fabric, patterns, florals – you name it, I fell in love. I also love challenging myself in putting colors together – this is where making quilts came into play, and I haven’t stopped since! My favorite part of quilting is applique and paper piecing. Appliqueing is very relaxing for me. I can just sit and applique all day long! Now when it comes to paper piecing, obviously my focus is on machine sewing. A lot of quilters do not like paper piecing – a lot have said it is too challenging. For me, what I love about paper piecing is my points and accuracy. Yes, I am somewhat of an O.C.D. quilter! I guess it must be the engineering background. Last year,
in 2018, I made four queen size Hawaiian quilts which I will share with you soon.

When I retired in 2010, I upped my cooking skills and I am happy to say, we eat relatively healthy, except on occasions when I am in the middle of a sewing project and do not want to cook.

About this Blog:
I wanted to keep track of my life and be able to look back over the years at what I have done. I love sharing things about my crazy family, sewing/quilting projects, tutorials, and sharing a verse from scriptures with everyone here.

What I LOVE…
• God. His readings and sacrifices for the world.
• My husband + family + friends + pets. I still want a goat.
• Organizing my home and my studio.
• Learning = Growing.
